What does your dream job look like?
For me, it’s doing what I love in my pajamas and drinking coffee on my sofa while the kids are at school or off somewhere in the house or backyard playing. It might look completely different for you, but for me, that’s goals. And you know what? That’s exactly what I do. Yep, I do what I love in my pajamas while drinking coffee on my sofa.
It took me a long time to figure out how to do that, and I think it took me so long because I didn’t know anyone who had done it, so I didn’t really think it was possible.
I’m here to tell you that it IS possible. You can turn your passion into a dream job, and I’m going to tell you how.
Determine Your Passion
For some people this is a no-brainer, but for some it takes work to figure out what you really love to do. If you don’t know what your passion is, stop reading and come back later. I want you to read How to Find Your Passion and download the workbook in the resource library. Then come back and finish reading this.
Invest in Your Education
Whether you’re an expert or not, it’s always a good idea to continue to learn as much as you can. I highly recommend taking some kind of course. Online courses are great. There are a lot of great ones out there you can really learn a lot from. I don’t regret any course I ever took to further my education on the topic I’m passionate about.
Get Serious About Your New Business
The number one mistake most people make is treating their passion like a hobby instead of a business. A hobby is something you do whenever you want and isn’t taken seriously. If you want to succeed, you must treat it like a business. Here are a few things you need to do if you want to turn your passion into a business:
Make a business plan
Set a schedule and stick to it. Work on your business every day, even if it’s just a couple hours.
Brand your business
Make a website (if needed) or hire a web designer
Network. Get your name out there.
Market your business on social media
Be Prepared for Setbacks
It’s a rule of life that whenever you start something really great, there will be setbacks. But if you really want to make it work, there are things you can do to prepare for the setbacks.
Have a positive mindset.
Keep your eyes on the end result you want to have.
Keep going, even when you want to quit. I assure you, there will be times when you want to quit. Keep going anyway.
Decide that quitting isn’t an option.
Remember why you started.
“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” - Winston Churchill
I love that quote. It reminds me that in order to have success, you must be willing to fail a few times. Don’t let setbacks permanently set you back. Learn from the experience, and move forward.

Believe You Can Do it
No one ever achieved anything great by believing they couldn’t. If you want to make this work, you MUST believe in yourself. No one else will believe in you if you don’t. And trust me, it’s so much harder moving from one step to the next with massive doubt in your mind. I’ve been there. Believing in yourself is the most important thing you can do when turning your passion into your dream job.
You can do it. If I can, you can. I know that’s cliche, but it’s true. You can do this! What are you waiting for?
