April 2019 Debt Payoff Summary

I can’t believe it’s been six months since I did my last debt payoff summary! I’m totally slacking. I had planned on doing an update every month, but life happened, and we weren’t able to pay off ANY debt from November to March. It was a total fail for us. We had some huge setbacks and unexpected expenses (hello emergency fund!), and we just weren’t able to make it work.
BUT I’m happy to say that we got back on track in April. My husband gets a bonus at his job every quarter, so with March’s bonus, we put the whole thing toward paying off debt.
November’s Starting Debt Balance: $6685.57
April’s debt payment plus monthly minimums: $1610.85
Remaining Balance: $5074.72
Our new goal for monthly debt payments is now going to be $500 a month plus our minimum payments. If we can manage more, we’re going to do more (our budget shows that we can), but our minimum goal is $500. That will give us a new debt-free date of January 2020. I’m going to do everything I can to move that date up, and I will update every month that we move toward our goal.
